Introduction
A strong media list is one of the most valuable tools in public relations. Whether you’re promoting a product launch, community event, nonprofit fundraiser, hospitality opening, or thought leadership campaign, your success often depends on getting your story in front of the right journalists.
Yet one of the most common mistakes I see is focusing on the size of a media list rather than its quality. A list with 500 random contacts is far less effective than a carefully researched list of 25 journalists who genuinely cover your topic.
That’s why I’m launching a four-part blog series, The PR Guide to Building a Powerful Media List. I’ll walk you through the process of creating, researching, and maintaining a media database that helps generate meaningful media coverage.
The Series
Part 1: The Foundation of a Great Media List
Part 2: How to Find Media Outlets
Part 3: How to Find Journalists and Their Contact Information
Part 4: How to Maintain a Media Database
I’m excited to share this information with you. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at susan@friedmanpublicity.com or follow me on LinkedIn.
